Sri Lanka Approves Rs. 700 Million Hamilton Canal Tourism Development Project

On 3 November, the Cabinet approved a Rs. 700 million project to develop the Hamilton Canal, Negombo Lagoon and surrounding waterways as a nature-based and heritage tourism destination. The planned development will extend from Queen’s Island Jetty towards the Ma Oya estuary. The project creates opportunities for tourism operators, hospitality businesses and local service providers.
